A garage door tune-up from Fort Brothers is a full safety check of your door and opener at your home anywhere in Dallas–Fort Worth. We test the balance, inspect the springs, cables, rollers and hinges, tighten hardware, lubricate moving parts and test the opener’s auto-reverse. If anything needs replacing, you get a no-cost estimate first.

Know the signs

When a garage door needs a tune-up

It’s noisy

Grinding, squealing or banging usually means dry hinges, worn rollers or loose hardware.

It’s jerky or slow

A door that shudders or hesitates may be out of balance or binding in the track.

The opener strains

If the opener hums, labors or reverses, the door may be too heavy for it because the springs have weakened.

It’s been a year or more

Once a year is a good rhythm, and before the summer heat is the best time in North Texas.

You just moved in

A new-to-you house often comes with a door nobody has checked in years.

After a storm

Wind and hail can loosen hardware and knock tracks out of line even when the door still runs.

Our process

How we handle a garage door tune-up

1

Watch and listen

We run the door, listen for problems and ask what you’ve noticed.

2

Inspect and test

Balance, springs, cables, drums, rollers, hinges, tracks, seals, the opener and the safety reverse.

3

Adjust and lubricate

We tighten hardware, align tracks where needed and lubricate the moving parts.

4

Explain what we found

You get a plain-English rundown, and a no-cost estimate for anything that needs replacing.

What’s included

What we check on a tune-up

We start by watching the door run, then disconnect the opener and check it by hand. We test the balance, look over both springs for gaps and wear, and inspect the cables, drums and bottom brackets. We check every roller and hinge, tighten track and hinge hardware, look at track alignment and lubricate the moving parts.

On the opener side, we test the auto-reverse and the safety sensors, check the force and travel settings, and make sure remotes and keypads work. We also look at the bottom seal and weatherstripping. If we find a worn part, we show it to you and give you a written, no-cost estimate before replacing anything.

Why it matters in Texas

Why North Texas garage doors need regular tune-ups

DFW summers dry out lubrication and bake rubber seals, so rollers and hinges wear faster and doors get noisy. Clay soil shifts between wet and dry seasons and can pull tracks slightly out of line. Dust and pollen collect in the tracks. Each of these makes the springs and opener work harder.

A tune-up won’t make an old spring new, but it catches problems while they’re small and keeps a door balanced, which is what protects your opener. If a spring is near the end of its life, we’ll tell you. Learn more about how long springs last in Texas heat.

FAQ

Garage door tune-up questions

How often should a garage door be tuned up?

Once a year for most homes. If your door runs many times a day, or it’s getting noisy, sooner is better.

Will a tune-up fix a noisy garage door?

Often, yes. Most noise comes from dry hinges, worn rollers or loose hardware. If a part is worn out, we’ll show you and give you a no-cost estimate to replace it.

Is a tune-up good for my opener?

Yes. A balanced door with smooth rollers takes far less effort to lift, which helps the opener last longer. We also test its force settings and safety reverse.

Can you replace parts during the tune-up visit?

Yes. If we find a worn roller, a frayed cable or a tired spring, we can usually replace it on the same visit once you approve the estimate.

Can I book a tune-up online?

Yes. A tune-up is easy to plan ahead, so use the Book online button to pick a time. For anything urgent, call (877) 547-9033.

Do you price match?

Yes. We offer a Price Match Guarantee. Bring a written quote or screenshots from another company, and your technician will review it with you before any work starts.
